The Legends were formed in the spring of 2019 by Shane Kudela and Dan Velasquez. The Legends started with a League of Legends, Overwatch, and Smash Bros. team. In their first year, all teams went through playoffs and made appearances at state. The following year, the Legends went on to enlist over 80 total players across Varsity and JV teams in League of Legends, Overwatch. Smash Bros., and Rocket League. The program then hired on three more general managers: Marisa Fellion and Bradley Norman in 2019-2020 season and the final addition of Ronald Rosales in 2020-2021. The Legends took home their (and the school district's) first WIHSEA Div 1 state championship in Smash Bros. Ultimate. The following year, the Smash Bros. champs defended their title, earning a second championship trophy in a row. Fellion resigned in summer of 2022 and the Legends hired on Legends alumni, Diego Sanchez in the fall of 2022. Their Twitch following expanded beyond one thousand followers and continued to develop a strong social media community.
Unlike traditional sports, participation on the Legends is not divided into boys, girls, etc. Instead, it is a collective of ANY student seeking out the competition in the fastest-growing entertainment industry. Teams practice daily, have weekly matchups, and are streamed on the Legend's Twitch channel. Any student that participates is responsible for weekly workouts and academic check-ins. Varsity seasons consist of eight weeks of official play, two weeks of playoffs, and a state championship weekend. JV seasons consist of eight weeks of official play.
